Chat shorthand/lingo/abbreviations/slang
Sometimes called leet-speak, netspeak, or just gibberish to the over 35 crowd.
OK moms and dads, you need to know some of these, especially the “Top 50+ — Parents Must Know” list, so you are not k13w13$$ (clueless) when reviewing your kid’s coded language used for instant and text messaging, chat and emails.

No Slang.com – Has a good slang translator, slang dictionary, and a very good Netspeak guide.
The NetLingo – They have a top 50 list too, and mine pales in comparison, but if you have teens or even pre-teens you need to review their list. Be aware that it is X-rated. You will also find other lists, acronyms, and text message shorthand. While here be sure to review the “Online Safety Statistics.”
