********************Part 1
Hey mom and dad, how many pornographic web pages do you think your kids can easily access via the Internet? Would you believe more than 400,000? Believe it, and they are accessible, not only from computers, but cell phones, video iPods, and game consoles. Don’t think for a second that your kids will not fall prey to the porn merchants if left to surf the Internet without proper safeguards (Internet filters/monitors and parental controls). These peddlers of filth and immorality are not only destroying children’s innocence but entire families as well.
The latest surveys indicate one of the largest groups of viewers of Internet pornography is youth from 12 to 17 years of age. Many moms and dads refuse to believe it will happen to their “good” kids. Using the kids Internet chat lingo; the parents are k13w13$$ (clueless). The reality is, kids with unrestricted access to the Internet, with no filters and parental controls, have already been exposed to pornography and possibly to sexual predators.
Due to the anonymity offered by the Internet, kids and teens are at risk of being exposed to pornography, cyber bullying, predators, sexting, identity theft, drugs, bigotry, hatred, gambling, crime, terrorism, scams, and more. These dangers are all very real and we hear them cited in the news every day. These dangers are, in fact, closer than your front door.
Parenting has never been easy and protecting your kids from Internet dangers will be no different. The world is out to rip your kids from the safety and protection of the family. You must be willing to make some hard choices: hard only in the sense that your kids may “hate” you for not letting them do or have things that most of the other kids have. I urge you to persevere for their sake.

This has been helpful, I have a 13 yr old step son, who’s dad has allowed 24/7 internet access via a psp3. We have had major arguments about it, I am not comfortable with it, but the best I have been able to control is pulling the modem jack out @ night. His mother has also weighed in on the decision, commenting that now he has been restricted with facebook, what is he doing to occupy himself. I have been branded overprotective & even insulted by my other step children, its so hard when your battling alone to try your best to protect those who your responsible for…..
